Former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook has sparked fresh concern and shock after stepping out following yet another gruelling round of reconstructive surgery, leaving her face visibly swollen and almost unrecognisable.
The 52-year-old actress has travelled to Dubai to continue her long, deeply personal journey to rebuild her face — a process she has openly linked to the devastating physical damage caused by historic drug addiction.
A dramatic and painful transformation
Danniella was photographed leaving Gargash Hospital in Dubai after undergoing extensive facial reconstruction, including a full face, neck and brow lift, alongside further lip and nose reconstruction.
Images show the former soap star being wheeled out of the hospital in a wheelchair, her head tightly wrapped in a facial compression garment, her features markedly swollen following hours under the knife. She later changed into a pink dress as she made her exit, bravely facing the cameras despite the obvious discomfort.
A full recovery from such invasive facial surgery can take up to nine months, with swelling and bruising expected to last weeks.
Years of damage — and the fight to rebuild
Danniella has never hidden the painful truth behind her need for repeated reconstructive surgery. Rising to fame as Sam Mitchell in EastEnders, she became addicted to drugs at just 14 years old — a battle that followed her through the 1990s and early 2000s.
She has previously admitted to spending £250,000 on cocaine, at one point taking five grams a day, even while pregnant with her son Kai. The prolonged substance abuse caused catastrophic damage to her face, leading to the collapse of her nose, septum and cheekbones.
Despite periods of recovery, Danniella suffered relapses in 2017 and again in 2021, further complicating her health and appearance.
A trusted surgeon — and no plans to stop
The latest operation was carried out by Danniella’s long-time surgeon Dr Parviz Sadigh, who has overseen several stages of her facial reconstruction.
Just weeks before the surgery, Danniella publicly expressed her gratitude and determination, writing on Instagram:
“A massive amount of love and respect to my amazing surgeon… Every day I grow and glow. Roll on February for the next operation.”
Her words made it clear: this is not a one-off procedure, but part of a long-term plan.
‘So I can get back to work’
Last summer, Danniella underwent a major operation to reconstruct her collapsed nose using cartilage taken from her rib — a milestone she described as life-changing.
At the time, she revealed the emotional motivation behind the surgery:
“Big day for me heading down for a very long surgery right now to rebuild my face. Then I can get back to work.”
In September, she proudly shared the healed results of that procedure, appearing hopeful and optimistic about restarting her acting career.
