Here is your The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, March 4, 2026 featuring Daniel struggling with how to handle Phyllis, and Victor giving Billy a cryptic warning about Jack’s safety.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Sally looked down at the faded “I love you” Billy had written on her hand. Billy emerged from the bedroom and asked her to return, so he could make her breakfast in bed. Billy asked if Sally was having second thoughts about their reunion, but she hadn’t. Sally was fully committed under the condition that he didn’t lie to her again.
Billy vowed that he wasn’t lying to Sally. For the first time, he fully listened to all of Sally’s fears about their future, and he promised not to lie. He’d never withhold how he truly felt again. Billy asked if Sally was okay with him leading Chancellor, and she had finally reached a point where she could be.
Sally understood how much the company meant to him, so she was now firmly behind him. However, Billy reassured her that even if Chancellor was suddenly taken away from him, it wouldn’t change how he felt about her. Sally believed that she could look into Billy’s eyes, which were the key to unlocking how he truly felt about her.
Sally appreciated Billy being receptive to her concerns from the night before and for giving her the chance to listen to him one more time. Billy was grateful for the opportunity to prove himself to her as well. He confessed that he was wrong for accepting Cane’s offer without considering her feelings.
Billy owned up to all of his mistakes, and even though Sally told him that it was water under the bridge, he needed her to hear it. Billy convinced Sally to start a company with him, but then, once he bailed, he became defensive toward her concerns. Sally appreciated that, but she acknowledged she had done the same.
Billy knew that he and Sally still had a long road ahead of them. However, he believed they were on track to eventually fully rebuild what they once lost.
Phyllis arrived at Billy’s door and incessantly rang the doorbell. She was surprised to see Sally there with Billy after hearing rumors about their breakup. Phyllis asked if Billy planned to return to Abbott Communications or remain at Chancellor.
Billy revealed that the company was now known as Spectra-Charles Media, and he had absolutely no intention of leaving Chancellor. He was curious why Phyllis was standing in his living room, asking a slew of questions. Phyllis told Billy that there was a snag in the contract for Chancellor, so her attorneys needed to look it over again.
Billy didn’t find any red flags when he previously looked over the contract. He wondered if Phyllis was using this as a stall tactic, something he knew better than anyone that she was famous for doing. Billy was confident that something was going on, so he asked her to be fully upfront with him.
Billy didn’t trust anything that Phyllis was telling him. He asked, “Are you stabbing me in the back like you did to Cane?” After Phyllis left, Billy looked at Sally and told her that he knew something else was going on, and he was sure it would be something negative toward him.

Cane thanked Daniel for dropping by the train so he could speak with him. Daniel recalled that Cane claimed to have a way to fix things between him and Phyllis. Cane offered Daniel a seat, but the latter opted to remain standing.
Cane stated that he had a way that might convince Phyllis to reflect on what she had done. Daniel was ready to listen. He let Daniel know that, despite what he may believe, Phyllis cared about more than just money and power. Cane explained that without Summer and Daniel by her side, nothing meant as much to Phyllis.
Cane went on to reveal that if Daniel, Summer, and Lucy would return by her side, Phyllis would likely sign Newman back to Victor. That wasn’t enough to appease Daniel, and he turned to leave the train. Cane attempted to stop him, but Daniel said that unless Cane had concrete evidence that Phyllis would return what she stole, his efforts would be wasted.
Cane begged Daniel to wait and give him a chance to listen fully. He could only tell Daniel about what he witnessed the last time he spoke to her. Summer and Daniel turning their backs on Phyllis has been the most devastating blow to her. Daniel was curious what led Cane to advocate for Phyllis, especially after she double-crossed him.
Daniel asked if Phyllis put Cane up to this, but he assured him that she did not. It didn’t take Daniel long to catch on to the hidden agenda behind Cane’s new plan. He clocked that Cane needed a bargaining chip to get Phyllis to return Newman, so Lily and the twins could be free.
Cane didn’t think there was anything wrong with that course of action. He returned to his plea and told Daniel that without her children, Phyllis had nothing. With nothing to look forward to in her life besides Newman, there was little incentive for Phyllis to ever let go of her new prized possession.
Everyone in town hated Phyllis, and now her own children wanted nothing to do with her. Cane revealed that he went through the exact same thing as Phyllis, so he understood. He made the mistake of thinking that once he became so powerful, everyone would flock to him. However, none of that happened. Instead, he lost everything and everyone he ever held dear.
Daniel asked if Cane honestly believed that Phyllis was as unhappy as he made it sound. Cane pleaded with Daniel to speak to Phyllis, so he could find out for himself. If he was right, Daniel and Phyllis could make peace, and Lily and the twins would be saved.
Shortly after Daniel departed, Phyllis showed up on the train to speak with Cane. Cane told her that Daniel was on the fence about forgiving her, but that wasn’t enough for Phyllis. She didn’t think he scratched the surface, and she needed Cane to come through with his end of the deal.
Cane suggested bringing in a third party to help Daniel come around. Phyllis believed only one person could convince Daniel to make things right with her: Tessa. She was the key to fixing everything.

At the ranch, Victoria told her parents that she still hadn’t been able to get ahold of Nick. The last time she saw Nick, he planned to find a way to lure Matt on his own. Sharon hadn’t heard from Nick either, so it was becoming a bit concerning for everyone involved. However, Nick suddenly emerged through the front door to the relief of his family.
Victor immediately asked Nick where he’d been. Nick asked his family to tone down the interrogation. He told everyone that he had his phone off, so nobody could get hold of him. Nick refused to let anyone in his family talk him out of his plan, which is why he went radio silent. He explained that he flew to Los Angeles to get information on Matt’s potential whereabouts.
Nikki asked Victor to be more transparent about his plans to get the company back. Victoria and Nick seconded their mother’s notion. Nikki hoped that whatever the plan was didn’t put Lily or the twins in genuine danger. Victor quickly doused their concerns, as the plan had nothing to do with Lily or her kids. He remarked that his current plan should’ve been put in place from the very start.
Victor summoned Billy to the ranch, and he asked Billy to take a seat. Billy refused and told him that he had a company to run. Victor informed Billy, “Chancellor Industries will be back in my hands by the end of the business day.” Billy accused Victor of being delusional, but Victor knew something he didn’t. He told Billy, “If you don’t, neither you nor anyone in your family will ever see Jack Abbott again.”

Tessa talked with Sharon at Crimson Lights, and they tiptoed around the Mariah-sized elephant in the room at first. Sharon discussed setting up a time to visit with Aria, and Tessa had no objections. However, when Sharon mentioned the idea of Mariah tagging along, Tessa squashed that immediately.
Tessa didn’t believe it was the best time to reintroduce Mariah into their daughter’s life. She felt like it might be confusing for Aria, but Daniel arrived just in time to break up that uncomfortable conversation. Daniel asked Tessa how she thought he should handle the situation with his mother.
Tessa didn’t think Daniel had anything to lose by trying to repair his relationship with Phyllis. It was eating at him, and he could see how painful it had become for his mother. Tessa was honest and told Daniel that, in his shoes, she’d give Phyllis another chance.
Daniel felt as though the situation could just as easily apply to Tessa and Mariah. What would happen if Mariah showed up and wanted to fix their marriage? Would Daniel lose her forever?

Nick stopped by right after Daniel, and Sharon was beyond relieved to see that he was doing fine. Nobody had spotted Matt since his release, which greatly increased the danger level. Matt was lurking somewhere in the shadows, and there was no telling when he’d strike next.
Nick received another text from Matt. This time to text said, “Sorry I missed you in L.A.” Even though they couldn’t locate him, Matt was still a step ahead of everyone.
