Coronation Street‘s Jack P Shepherd is set to make his pantomime debut this Christmas in Wales. The David Platt actor is set to star alongside John Evans and Simon Neehan in Venue Cymru’s Sleeping Beauty.
The Celebrity Big Brother winner said he was “delighted” to be joining the cast for the shows, which begin on 12 December and run until 2 January.
“I’m delighted to be joining the cast in Llandudno this festive season and can’t wait to entertain audiences in this year’s pantomime,” he said.
Speaking ahead of the shows, Amanda Guy, section head at Venue Cymru, said in a statement: “We are thrilled to welcome Jack P Shepherd to Venue Cymru for Sleeping Beauty. Jack is one of the country’s most recognisable and popular television stars, and we’re delighted that he will be making his pantomime debut with us in Llandudno.
“Our audiences can look forward to another magical festive production packed with laughter, music and family fun.”
The announcement comes after a reported major rule change at ITV in which actors are no longer required to quit their jobs to take on theatre roles.
Now, actors from Corrie as well as Emmerdale can take a break from their soap roles to appear in pantos and theatre productions.
This takes plenty of notice from the actor and planning from soap bosses to temporarily write them out of scripts, allowing for the gap in filming.
