THE NEW NUMBER 1! NETFLIX’S “BINGEABLE” MUR.DER MYSTERY WITH “OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES” HAS OFFICIALLY CONQUERED THE CHARTS!

Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, the “bingeable” murder mystery featuring “outstanding performances”, has climbed up the Netflix chart. Following its release on the streaming service on 15 January, the series has made its way to the number one spot on Netflix’s top ten series in the UK chart.

Based on Agatha Christie’s 1929 novel The Seven Dials Mystery, the three-part series stars How to Have Sex actor Mia McKenna-Bruce in the lead role as a young sleuth named Lady Eileen ‘Bundle’ Brent.

Penned by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall, the series boasts a star-studded cast including Helena Bonham Carter, Martin Freeman, Corey Mylchreest, Edward Bluemel and Nabhaan Rizwan.

Set in England in 1925, the series follows Bundle as she attempts to uncover the truth behind a death that takes place at a lavish party in her country house, uncovering a sinister plot that will change the course of her life.

The synopsis reads: “When a lavish country house party ends in murder, a witty young aristocrat sets out to solve the mystery in this adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel.”

Mostly a hit among critics, the series has a rating of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes from 32 reviews, with critics praising the pacing and lead performances.

Here at Digital Spy, we gave the series a four-star review, calling it “fast paced”, adding: “Still, while it is indeed refreshing for a story to be efficiently and succinctly told, you may find yourself longing for a little more time in Bundle’s vibrant world.”

Variety said of the series: “While the story itself may have been stronger in a film format, the performances by Freeman, Bonham Carter and McKenna-Bruce are enticing enough to keep the viewer engaged.”

“Dial in for an unexpected treat in this lesser-seen Agatha Christie story, which comes to life every time Mia McKenna-Bruce appears to share her observations and a wry quip,” penned Empire Magazine.

Screen Rant wrote: “A murder mystery series that struggles to find the right tone. Even so, it’s a breezy, bingeable watch, one that viewers will enjoy in the moment and likely forget about the next day.”

The Financial Times said the series “is anchored by outstanding performances and a no-frills approach to the story, which, on balance, make for a moreish, witty and perfectly cosy murder mystery”.

“Retro without flair and full of modern concerns about everyone’s emotional wellbeing is a mix that doesn’t work for me,” wrote The Guardian.
