Coronation Street fans think they have worked out there will be a major change before Lisa Swain and Carla Connor tie the knot as they count down the days to the big wedding day.

It was previously confirmed by the ITV soap’s producer Kate Brooks that the two characters would be hearing wedding bells this spring following their recent reunion, which came after Lisa’s ex-wife, Becky Swain, returned from the dead and quite quickly put a spanner in the works for the new engaged couple.

Viewers watched as the pair were pulled apart by the arrival in September last year, with Becky putting a spanner in the works when she arrived in Weatherfield back in September, despite being believed to have been killed in the line of duty, just days after Lisa and Carla became engaged.

But as fans also know, despite Becky’s almost-successful attempts at pulling the couple apart, and convincing Lisa and their daughter, Betsy Swain, to leave the country with her, the villain was stopped in her tracks, thanks to Carla teaming up with DC Kit Green before she was kidnapped by Becky.

Fast foward to their reunion and Carla has since surprised Lisa, by booking their wedding date at the Chariot Square Hotel, and while it appears their upcoming nuptials will be plain sailing for the two women after quite a dramatic few months for their relationship, their ‘beautiful’ wedding day will end with a shock for poor Betsy Swain as Lisa’s daughter discovers one of her neighbours dead on the cobbles.

But Corrie fans think the flashforward scenes featured in Monday’s (February 15) episode have confirmed that there will be a change to Carla and Lisa’s nuptials before it is seen on-screen.

@TheConnorSwains said: “The curveball has to be wedding related. I’m gonna guess Carl sets fire to the Chariot Square, the function room is damaged and they have to find another venue. If this leads us to an intimate ceremony in the garden of no 6 then I’ll hand Carl the lighter! #Swarla #Corrie.” @eternitydropped replied: “I HOPE IT IS THIS! Also from where the fireworks were visiable – could that be from number 6? (Sorry but a hotel wedding doesnt seem very them!)”

@Audz32129841 noted: “How close is the Charriot square if you can see the fireworks from the street and yet everyone drives or gets a cab #Corrie.” However, @TVMusings26 suggested: “What if #Swarla do get married at the hotel as planned, but go back to the street/near the street for the fireworks? Logistically in terms of filming where would they do them, Redrec? Number 6? #Corrie.”

And despite knowing the drama that is ahead, many Corrie fans chose to focus on Carla securing her and Lisa’s wedding date, before Betsy’s interview seemingly confirmed it goes without a hitch – even if they do face a venue drama before the big day, which hasn’t been confirmed by the soap.

This means, if that is to be the case, Lisa and Carla will be the first two women to tie the knot in Weatherfield, after Kate Connor and Rana Habeeb’s wedding day saw the latter killed before she could say ‘I Do’, which came after Sophie Webster and Sian Powers were set to be the first lesbian couple to marry, but the wedding ended in a dramatic split at the altar.

@LanaKlaineSWEN said: “These two are going to have the first wlw successful wedding in Corrie history it’s such a groundbreaking moment in Corrie history and it’s the 2nd time the paring of swarla have made Corrie history! Couldn’t be happier the wedding happens smoothly #Swarla #Corrie.”

@terrilindsay posted: “65 years in the making #Swarla.” @Kween_Scorpio replied: “Third times a charm. We’ll get our first successful wIw wedding #Swarla.” @snaations shared: “These two are going to be the first wlw married couple on @itvcorrie in 65 years. I always knew Carla Connor would take a wife #Corrie #Swarla.” @TheConnorSwains added: “Confirmed….. Carla and Lisa are gonna have the first successful wlw wedding on the cobbles! #Swarla #Corrie.”
