The high-stakes family reunion forms the explosive foundation for Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) highly anticipated exit storyline this summer. But while the girls think they’ve pulled off a sweet miracle, they have actually unleashed a dark ghost from Cassie’s past.
The Bistro Blindside: A Gift Tyrone Never Wanted
The drama begins when a clueless Tyrone is told by his daughters, Hope and Ruby, that they have a massive surprise waiting for him at the Viaduct Bistro. Expecting a football ticket or a fancy watch, Tyrone is left utterly paralyzed when he is introduced to Ross—whom the girls tracked down by secretly stealing their dad’s DNA!
Speaking about the jaw-dropping ambush, star Alan Halsall revealed Tyrone is completely unequipped to handle the scenario.
“He doesn’t know what it will be,” Alan explained. “The last thing he would be expecting is that the girls had secretly used his DNA to find his biological father. It’s completely out of the blue; I don’t think anyone would be ready for a scenario like that.”
Once the shock settles and Tyrone is left alone with the imposing stranger, his immediate fight-or-flight instinct kicks in. He doesn’t want a relationship; he wants answers from his family.
“His first thought is, ‘I don’t really want to get to know this guy. I’m old enough; I’ve done all right without a dad, and I certainly don’t need this in my life right now,’” Alan admitted.
Bonding Over Beer: The Father Figure Emerges
Despite his icy initial resistance, a supportive Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) steps in to urge her husband to give the man a chance. Realizing the girls acted out of pure love, Tyrone agrees to a tentative chat to “scratch the itch” of his own identity.

“Tyrone starts to think, ‘Actually, this guy seems all right, and I could go for a beer with my dad,’” Alan teased. “It’s a shame he wasn’t in his life, and he starts to understand the circumstances of why that was the case.”

Alan noted that Cassie’s frantic, defensive reaction to Ross’s sudden arrival is “quite telling,” revealing she is terrified that the elaborate web of lies she has spun over the last year is about to completely collapse.
