Who dies in Coronation Street as viewers forced to wait for victim’s identity
There are five possible victims of the murder as Betsy Swain made a deadly discovery
It’s been months now since a ‘who is it’ began in Coronation Street, and it’s been confirmed that viewers will have to wait a little bit longer to found out who the victim is of a shock murder.
Fans have actually been aware that the death of one of the possible five named victims will occur on April 23 after it was confirmed during a flashforward episode of the ITV soap which aired back in February.
In the episode, Corrie viewers saw a shocked and anxious Betsy being interviewed by detectives about finding the dead body of someone she knows. She explained she had been at the wedding of her mum, Lisa Swain, and Carla Connor and was heading into town to continue the celebrations when she made the shocking discovery.

As the episode returned to the present day, Corrie viewers started to see how the behaviour of the five characters could lead to their possible death – with Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Carl Webster seen as the potential victims, each showing behaviours that could lead to them being bumped off.
After months of waiting, during Thursday’s (April 23) edition of Corrie, Lisa and Carla’s wedding day arrived, however, Carla wasn’t at first aware their nuptials would still be going ahead of Carl Webster caused a flood at the Chariot Square Hotel, ruining the room where they were planning to tie the knot.
Lisa, however, stepped in and ended up surprisng Carla with the wedding still going ahead, with Betsy, Ryan Connor and Roy Cropper there to witness the beautiful, intimate ceremony. The celebrations did continue, with Sally Metcalfe rallying the troops and getting the Underworld factory for for a celebrations.
It was then towards the end of the episode that a tipsy Betsy was seen out on the cobbles when she discovered the dead body, only for her scream to be mistaken by the newlyweds as a fox.
But, the victim wasn’t actually revealed. Spoilers for Corrie next week have already confirmed that the big reveal won’t take place until next Friday (May 1).
The drama will be stretched across five nights, starting on Monday, April 27, where viewers will revisit the same day, but each episode will be seen from the perspective of a different potential victim. At the end of the week Betsy will find one of them dead and the hunt to find the killer will then begin.
Asked whether it was always the plan to have five episodes starting at the same point every day that told each possible victims story, Corrie producer Kate Brooks shared: “Weirdly, as complicated as the stories are, as a viewer when you’re watching them, it’s very easy to follow. It’s easy to keep track of what’s going on so we deliberately intended to make each episode feel like a mini movie and have the hook being ‘we still don’t know who it is. Has that person been killed?’
“What that enables us to do as well is have a bit of levity in the episodes. In the Jodie ep, it’s really funny. David [Platt] is really drunk and its very laugh out loud, side splittingly funny because Jack P Shepherd is amazing… There’s all sorts of shenanigans going on, we do dip back into the wedding a little bit, but it gave us a chance to follow different themes and inject that levity and humour because we had great writers on all the episodes, and the wedding episode, who really gave it that Corrie feel, while it still felt big and it felt bold and it felt different to what we’ve done before. And a great soundtrack. The opening of every episode gets you going…”
