Sally Dynevor has shared an incredible career update as she announced it has been 40 years since she first stepped foot onto the famous cobbles. The actress is renowned for playing the role of Sally Webster on Coronation Street, one of the street’s longest residents.

To mark the special occasion, Sally shared a post to Instagram. She said: “I can’t believe it’s 40 years in Corrie this month. What a ride it has been. Love what I do so much.” She also shared a cartoon image of her on the street, as she added: “Thank you Tony Maudsley for this, it is wonderful.”

Through the years, Sally has appeared in a number of high-profile storylines. This includes her heart-wrenching battle with cancer to her many romances, including a marriage to Kevin Webster.

Following the career update, Sally has received messages of support from her co-stars and fans of the ITV show. Claire Sweeney who plays Cassandra Plummer on Coronation Street, said: “Wow that’s amazing congratulations.”

Helen Flanagan, who played on-screen daughter of Sally, commented: “Congratulations Sally love you” and Brooke Vincent, who also played Sally’s daughter, wrote: “Congratulations Sal.”

Tony Maudsley posted: “You are very welcome Sal. Happy Corriversary, you massive legend” and Sally Carman added “How is this possible? You’re only 36.”

Viewers added supportive comments. One fan said: “Congratulations Sally on your incredible achievement” and a second wrote “Many congratulations I remember you first walking into the Rovers with Kevin.”

Another response was: “That’s a testament to your brilliant humour and enormous talent right there. Congratulations Sal.”

Sally spoke to Woman’s Weekly Magazine last year, ahead of her 40th anniversary. She said: “I’m not a retiring person. I’ve got such a lovely routine now.

“I want to keep working, it’s good for my brain. So, if they still want me, maybe I’ll be in the show in my 70s and 80s. I’ll just keep going. It’s such a great job and I feel very grateful I’ve still got it after 40 years.

“I’m not in it as much as I used to be, but I drove in the other day and as the barrier went up I just had this huge smile because it felt like I was home.”
