Here is your The Young and the Restless recap for Tuesday, April 21, 2026 featuring Victor’s major move, Phyllis’ losing control, and Devon and Abby’s marriage cracking.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Christine made one of her required monthly visits to Genoa City for yet another GCAC sitdown with her rockstar husband. Danny was there to surprise her and gave her a special gift to make up for leaving her behind while he performed across Europe. Instead of a personalized gift that he picked out for his bride, he gave her a leftover scarf from a concert swag bag.
Christine brought the reunion to a screeching halt by revealing she had a surprise of her own. The district attorney planned to step down, and since Christine is evidently the only lawyer in town besides Michael, the gig is going to her. Christine delivered the news like it was a death announcement, and she wasn’t sure if she wanted it.
Christine loved being married to a rockstar, and being tied down by the DA’s office would put a pause on any spontaneous trips across the globe. She couldn’t risk a groupie like Phyllis catching his eye, so she prepared herself to turn down the position. It felt like an easy choice, but potential insecurities appeared to be forcing Christine to give up her dream to hold on to her man.
Danny offered to scale back his touring dates to plant more permanent roots in Genoa City. He was willing to give up everything to let Christine pursue her dreams. Their good vibes were short-lived when Daniel showed up, still sulking over Tessa and Mariah’s reunion.
Victor plays chess

Michael arrived at the ranch, and he had the suspicion that his day was about to go from bad to worse. Victor ordered him to sit down, and he immediately put him in a compromising position by claiming he was ready to take Newman back. However, with Lauren serving as Phyllis’ right-hand, Michael might have reservations.
Victor planned to force Phyllis into submission, and the wheels were already in motion. After weeks of being outsmarted by the town pariah, Victor was poised to reclaim his throne. Phyllis was on the verge of losing nearly her entire workforce, leaving her powerless to a takeover.
Since Victor had Chancellor Industries back in his possession, he could use that a vehicle to drive Phyllis into ruin. He had a new program that could prove that Phyllis, Billy, and Cane used AI to steal Newman away from him. Phyllis was running out of options, and soon she’d learn why Victor Newman never loses.
Michael didn’t understand why he was being filled in on Victor’s plans. Why was he getting a heads-up? Victor claimed that he wanted to avoid causing pain for Lauren, but Michael took his words as a threat. Victor was on the warpath, and Michael wasn’t going to back down to Victor this time. He promised to pass on the news to Lauren, but it was clear that Michael was on shaky ground with the titan.
Justice vs. mercy

Devon and Abby looked further apart than ever when he ran into her outside of Chancellor Cafe. She clearly had lingering resentment about him going behind her back to get involved in Mariah’s case. Abby did her best to make it seem like she wasn’t avoiding him, but Devon wasn’t buying it. His wife wasn’t acknowledging anything he said, but she asked why he had stayed late at the office.
Devon called her out for avoiding him, and it all stemmed from putting his hand in Mariah’s cookie jar court case. Abby confessed that Devon’s sneaky behavior werighed heavy on her. He wanted to open a dialogue about the situation, but she felt it was too late. Devon took matters into his own hands, and he’d already put things in motion.
Abby wanted to put their son first, but pulling Mariah out of a psychiatric facility didn’t seem like the way to go. She accused Devon of purposely pushing Mariah over the edge, so the courts are left with no choice other than to lock her in a prison cell. They were on completely opposing sides about how Mariah should be handled after abducting their son.
Abby thought Mariah needed help, but Devon wanted her held accountable to the fullest extent. This was the furthest apart the spouses had been since first coming together, and although the true crime was kidnapping Dominic, the true lasting damage might be the longevity of their marriage. Devon stormed away from the table after Abby was sick of him swimming in an ocean of misery and being surprised that she didn’t want to join him on his life raft, for one.
Confidence meets collapse

At Summers Conglomerate, Lauren surprised Phyllis with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, some of which were left over from Michael’s gift to her. Phyllis hoped that it was a sign that Michael finally supported their partnership. She was optimistic that Michael realized how poorly Victor had treated him in the past and was ready to ditch that “friendship.”
Projections looked great, so Phyllis and Lauren were riding high, under the assumption that they were the new power players in town. Rebranding the company would’ve been a great idea in theory, but the first wave of Victor’s plan to drown Phyllis hit when the head of accounting turned in his resignation. After him, all of the department heads called it quits and left Phyllis high and dry.
Phyllis, in all of her delightful delusion, wanted Lauren to convince Michael to join Newman as their head of legal. They had lost nearly every employee, but sure, why not add Victor’s close friend and confidant to the mix?
Michael and Lauren met for lunch at the GCAC, and not mincing words, he let her know that Summers Conglomerate was on the verge of sinking like the Titanic. He was willing to fill her in about everything, but she needed to keep it a secret from her new boss.
