Coronation Streetâs Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) has been murdered, and the hunt is on for his killer.
But it isnât just DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) and DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) on the case. As Metroâs soap detective, Iâve been keeping my eye out for clues â as have fans of the ITV soap.
So, what do we know so far?
On the night of Lisaâs wedding to Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King), Theo was found dead by a terrified Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin).
He certainly had no shortage of enemies on the cobbles, having been exposed for abusing Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) a few days prior.
But who finished him off?

The official suspects
Corrie very graciously provided us with a list of official suspects, and they arenât surprising.
We have Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), Gary Windass (Mikey North), Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson) and, of course, Todd.
But who has the strongest motive? Who has a solid alibi? And, most importantly, whodunnit?
Summer Spellman

Poor Summer is currently staying at His Majestyâs pleasure while awaiting trial, having been charged with Theoâs murder.
To be fair, Lisa and Kit have quite a lot of evidence against her.
She has motive, no alibi, and physical evidence putting her in Theoâs flat on the night of the murder.
In her initial statement, Summer told police that the last time sheâd seen Theo was days before he was found dead. However, this was thrown into question when the police found a brooch in the flat, which they later spotted her wearing in a photo from that night.
To make matters worse, George told Lisa heâd seen Summer walking away from the flat, which gave her enough evidence to arrest her.
Summer insisted that she was innocent, and claimed that Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) could corroborate that Theo was alive when she left the flat.
However, with Tyrone having lied to Lisa â more on that later â Summer was charged with murder.
A flashback revealed that she was telling the truth, and had left Theo alive â but was that the last time she saw him? Could she have caught up with him at the precinct and killed him later?
What the police donât know is that she has a strong motive to kill him. She recently found out that he was responsible for Billy Mayhewâs death. Could she have killed Theo to avenge her father figure?
Christina Boyd

Christina has certainly sparked my suspicions since Theoâs murder, for several reasons.
Firstly, she was caught lying about her whereabouts in her initial police statement, something that seems to be a common occurrence in this case.
She was called back in for questioning when the police learned that the location of her car on the night in question contradicted her statement.
Though Christina told George that she had simply forgotten that sheâd stopped for petrol, was she telling the truth?
She certainly seems to be going to extreme lengths to cover something up.
It was Christina who pushed George into reporting Summerâs lies â could she have been deflecting the heat onto someone else to cover her own tracks?
Weâve also seen her making mysterious phone calls, asking the person on the other end for help while she deals with her current âmessâ.
Christina was one of the first characters to get bad vibes from Theo â could she have killed him after learning that her intuition was right?
George Shuttleworth

George has made no secret of his feelings toward Theo, and he was one of the first suspects to be questioned by police. Heâs also been quick to point the finger at countless other suspects. Could this be a deflection?
Christina found Theoâs blood on his sleeve the morning after the murder, and though he claimed it was from their earlier tussle, he didnât have an alibi for the time of Theoâs death, having gone out alone for a walk.
Did George kill Theo to put an end to Toddâs ordeal? He was certainly one of the first to try to help him escape Theoâs abuse, second only to Billy.
Gary Windass

Gary is no stranger to killing his enemies â cough, Rick Neelan, cough â so I wouldnât put it past him to have offed Theo after seeing his true colours.
Despite working together, Gary made it very clear that he was firmly on Toddâs side, and I certainly wouldnât want to cross him!
Kit is already pretty convinced that Gary was the man responsible, and the evidence does point to that theory.
We know that Gary smashed up Theoâs van and then deleted the CCTV. Not only that, but Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) gave him a false alibi, seemingly unaware that he was caught on the street in the back of one of Sally and Tim Metcalfeâs (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) selfies from that night.
Fans already suspect that his shifty behaviour in the aftermath, combined with his recent close bond with Sarah Platt (Tina OâBrien), points to a secret affair between the two of them.
Could that explain away Garyâs lack of an alibi? Or could it give him an even stronger motive?
Could Theo have discovered Gary and Sarahâs supposed affair? Could Gary have killed him to keep him quiet?
Danielle Silverton

Theoâs ex-wife Danielle has one of the strongest motives of all the suspects, and it hasnât gone unnoticed this week.
She hasnât exactly been subtle about the fact that sheâs enquired about Theoâs life insurance, and she was less than impressed to find out that it had gone to Todd.
Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) was the first to float the theory that Danielle had killed Theo for the money, and the evidence has only continued to stack up.
Danielle and Theo didnât exactly part on good terms, and she was on the street the night he died, having delivered the Connor-Swainâs wedding cake. However, she did appear to have an alibi, as she claimed to have visited a friend from church who lived nearby.
Todd Grimshaw

If anyone has a motive to kill Theo, itâs Todd. Theo put him through hell during their relationship, and Todd was clearly starting to think that heâd never be free of him.
Heâs fought back against Theo in the past â could he have killed him this time?
Potential red herrings
While Corrie may be pointing us down a particular direction with its list of official suspects, if thereâs one thing Iâve learnt from soap whodunnits, itâs to look outside the box.
Itâs still early on in the game, but fans have already come up with some interesting theories â and some of them are definitely plausible.
Sam Blakeman

Fans are convinced that Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) is actually behind Theoâs murder, given that he briefly appeared in the big reveal episode.
Viewers will know that Sam has been suffering a psychotic episode, which has seen him haunted by an evil version of Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) and a vigilante version of Roy Cropper (David Neilson).
The theory speculates that Sam attacked Theo on the balcony, thinking he was Will â and honestly, it makes sense.
He was in the vicinity that night, and weâve seen him lash out at the vision of Will before.
Tyrone Dobbs

Tyrone had all of our backs up when he lied to the police about not seeing Summer on the night of Theoâs murder, but it seems his reasons were unconnected to his death.
Tonight, it was revealed that he had been the one to drop the car on Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), and telling the police the truth would lead to him being charged for attempted manslaughter â or so Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) told him.
Ronnie had helped Tyrone cover up his crime, so his determination to keep the police away makes sense. But could he be protesting too much?
Their involvement with Carl looks to have ruled both Ronnie and Tyrone (and Carl himself, for that matter) out of the running for Theoâs killer, but anything is possible. So, for now, theyâre not off the list entirely, just somewhere near the bottom.
Sarah Platt

Someone else with a pretty solid alibi is Sarah, but it felt remiss not to mention her, given that, if the theory of their affair is correct, she would have the same motive as Gary.
Not to mention the fact that she and Todd are incredibly close friends, so her hatred for Theo has been apparent.
Sheâs also been getting drunk, calling for Kit to return home and getting distracted at work â all signs that she could be feeling guilty about something, whether that be an affair or a murderâŠ
It could be that the affair theory is completely on the wrong track, but that Gary or Sarah (or perhaps both) killed Theo and are covering for each other.
Thereâs also the small matter of the fact that Sarah was attacked by Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) on the same night, and spent a great deal of the evening in hospital. I did say she had a solid alibi.
The trauma of this could also have been why sheâs been acting out of character lately.
However, I wouldnât entirely rule her out, as thereâs always the possibility that Gary is the killer and she is covering for himâŠ
