It’s official! Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s daughter, Portia Umansky, will be attending the University of Colorado Boulder this fall. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member has been so open about her high school senior’s college search over the past few years and is finally getting to share the big news with everyone.

Kyle took to her Instagram Story over the weekend, where she announced her youngest daughter’s big news. The mom of four posted a photo of a much younger Portia wearing a floppy hat before revealing that she will be attending the University of Colorado Boulder in the fall, where she will be studying communications.

Kyle then took to the caption of the post, where she penned the sweetest message to her daughter after her big accomplishment. “Congratulations [Portia Umansky],” she wrote over the photo. “Love you so much and so proud of you.”

Kyle and her daughters are no strangers to being in Colorado. The California native and her estranged husband own a house in Aspen and often spend the holidays there.

Portia isn’t the only child of one of the Real Housewives to attend the university. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Meredith Marks’ daughter, Chloe Marks, graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2023. And The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Vicki Gunvalson surprised her son, Michael Wolfsmith, at the university while he was a student there during RHOC Season 2.

Kyle Richards opens up about Portia Umansky’s college decision journey

Kyle had been open about Portia’s journey to finding the best college for her over the past year. Portia had toured multiple colleges, including Texas Christian University, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Miami, and was having a “hard time making a decision” on where to attend. Kyle spoke with The Daily Dish in November 2025, where she revealed that Portia had consulted her family members on where to attend.

“Our dinner conversations are about which school she should apply to and what she’s going to write for her personal statement, and all the family weighing in on where she should apply, what’s the best state for her to move to that we could all visit her all the time,” Kyle admitted.

Kyle later appeared on an Amazon Live stream on March 17, where she revealed her ultimate goal for her youngest daughter’s college decision. “I just want her to be happy. So we’re just trying to find the place she’ll be the happiest,” she continued. “All of my daughters went so far away. I’d love a two-hour flight to see her because it’s gonna be rough on all of us.”
