Coronation Street fans know best, so we asked them who killed Theo Silverton – there’s one clear answer
It’s the biggest question in soapland right now and there are six possible suspects
It has been weeks since Theo Silverton was found dead on the cobbles, bringing a sudden end to his abusive reign of terror. But for Coronation Street fans, a big question remains: Who did it?
As fans of the ITV soap know, James Cartwright made his debut on the famous cobbles back in March 2025 as Theo, who quickly struck up a sizzling romance with local undertaker, Todd Grimshaw.
While at first it was believed that Theo was struggling with being public about his sexuality, secretly having a wife and teenage children, it soon transpired that the newcomer’s character was much more than that.
What followed was a heartbreaking and difficult-to-watch domestic violence and coercive control storyline, during which Todd, played by Gareth Pierce, was seen suffering both physical and mental abuse at the hands of his partner.
Theo’s behaviour was soon exposed to Todd’s loved ones, who were desperate to save him. Todd managed to eventually escape after Theo left him bloodied and bruised in a devastating attack. He bravely went to the police and gave a statement, detailing the horror he had been subject to.
But lack of evidence meant that Theo was free to roam the cobbles. It came after he was one of the five possible victims of a murder that was confirmed earlier this year, which would rock the cobbles in April. Flashback scenes confirmed in February that either Theo, Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh or Maggie Driscoll would be found by a shocked Betsy Swain on the night of her mum Lisa Swain’s wedding to Carla Connor.
While Lisa and Carla’s wedding took place on April 23, it wasn’t until a week later, on May 1, after an episode of the soap was dedicated to each possible victim, that a horrified Betsy was seen discovering Theo dead.
His lifeless body was discovered by the teen after Corrie viewers saw him chasing Todd Grimshaw, who had bravely spoken out about the abuse his husband had subjected him to, both physical and mental, for months. Theo was also seen showing his sinister side when he came face-to-face with Summer in his and Todd’s flat.
Corrie viewers didn’t see the moment Theo was killed, sparking a ‘whodunnit’ in Weatherfield. It has left Todd and his loved ones, George Shuttleworth, Christina Boyd, and Summer among the possible murder suspects, alongside Gary Windass and Theo’s ex-wife, Danielle Silverton, who could also be guilty of Theo’s demise as DS Lisa Connor-Swain and DC Kit Green’s investigation continues.
It has led to plenty of theories being shared, and the Manchester Evening News wanted to find out who Corrie fans are most suspicious of and who they think really killed Theo. And it seems the answer is clear.
According to the results of our poll, which you can join in with above, at the time of writing, Todd and George were not being considered by fans, with just two per cent and three per cent of the vote, respectively.
Christina and Gary are also not at the top of the viewers’ list, with just five per cent and nine per cent of the current vote. But things soon change when we get to the two other possible culprits. Danielle, who is yet to be questioned on-screen, but will be soon, is currently the murderer according to 24 per cent of people who have taken part in the poll.
She sits level with Summer, who is currently in the firing line both on-screen and among those watching, with another 24 per cent of participants believing she is responsible for bumping off Theo.
But it seems the majority of Corrie fans are sure a twist is on the cards, as the bonus option of the killer being ‘someone else’ appears to be the most popular with 33 per cent of those who have taken part. This has also been ringing true on social media, with Sarah Platt, Sam Blakeman and Theo’s son, Miles Silverton, among the other names being put forward as Theo’s possible killers.
It comes as Corrie producer Kate Brooks was quizzed on when the truth will finally be revealed. “It’s later in the summer,” she told the Manchester Evening News and other press. “We reveal to the audience who it is during late June/July. There are lots of people you definitely think could be.
“It’s a massive story, there are so many different twists, and there are so many different offshoots to the story as well.” Kate teasingly added: “You think you’re watching one thing, and then it diverts into a completely new kind of story territory. It’ll definitely keep people guessing.”
