What happened on The Young and the Restless
This week on The Young and the Restless, the Newmans supported one another as Nikki underwent surgery. Nick admitted that he was still tempted to use drugs. Holden lifted Claire’s spirits by telling her a story about interviewing for a job while stuck in a chicken suit. Nikki’s doctors reported that the surgery went well, but it would take time before they knew whether Nikki would be able to regain her sight. Victor’s family pressured him to reunite with Nikki, but he insisted it was between him and his wife.
Stockholm Syndrome
Patty warned Markham that she’d take everyone down with her if she lost Jack to Diane. Patty ordered Markham to speed up the process of convincing Diane that Jack had moved on with Patty. Markham recognized that Patty hadn’t truly been rehabilitated and threatened to expose her deluded mental state.
Markham agreed to obtain sleeping pills for Diane. Diane became increasingly flirtatious with Markham, claiming that she’d accepted that Jack had moved on and alluding to having feelings for Markham. Diane was disappointed when Markham insisted on only administering the sedatives at bedtime, but she later swiped the sedatives from his coat and pocketed a few of the pills. Markham accepted Diane’s offer to cook for him.
Jack hacked into Patty’s phone and sent a text message to lure Markham into supposedly meeting Patty. After Markham left his home, Kyle distracted the doctor’s guard dogs with food and broke into the house. Diane and Kyle happily reunited, but they were unable to find a means of escape.
The Great Escape
Kyle hid when Markham returned home. Diane served Markham drug-laced appetizers, and he gradually became woozy. Before Markham passed out, Diane crowed that she’d drugged him. Diane and Kyle stole Markham’s keys and escaped. While driving home, Diane planned to move back into the Abbott mansion and confessed that she’d never stopped loving Jack.
Patty demanded that Jack make love to her to maintain Diane’s safety. While Patty prepared for a romantic interlude, Diane and Kyle reached out to Jack to let them know she was safe. Jack reveled in telling Patty that he didn’t want her and that Diane had escaped.
Jack believed Patty had left the mansion, but was surprised when she suddenly appeared. Patty pulled Jack into a kiss and plunged a knife into his stomach. As Jack collapsed to the floor, Patty cradled him and pledged that they would be together forever in the afterlife.
Cane Extends an Olive Branch
Matt revealed to Cane that Victor had sent him to find out Cane’s plans for the Newmans. Tensions flared between Cane and Billy when Jill returned to town. Billy admitted he wasn’t over losing Chancellor. Jill tried to reassure Billy that she believed in him. Over Lily’s objections, Cane offered Billy a job at Chancellor.
