Coronation Street’s Sydney Martin delights fans with ‘TV mums’ update amid crossover fears
The actress, who plays Betsy Swain in the ITV soap, was joined by her co-stars at the Corriedale premiere

Sydney Martin has been flooded with messages from delighted fans as she was seen alongside her ‘TV mums’ as the premiere of Coronation Street and Emmerdale’s upcoming crossover.
The actress has spent just over a year playing Betsy Swain in the ITV soap, who fans know is the daughter of DS Lisa Swain after she arrived on-screen last summer, then as Sabrina Adetiba’s mate, before it was revealed who her mum is.
Landing the role marked Sydney’s big break and it’s now been revealed that Betsy is one of the characters involved in the upcoming soap crossover, Corriedale, the epic history-making episode set to rock both Weatherfield and Dales on one stormy night near Hotten and beyond.
The producers, scriptwriters and production teams have conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, but with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting in Manchester and Yorkshire, to herald the start of a new soap power hour schedule.
It was previously revealed that a catastrophic multi-vehicle pile-up would be at the centre of the drama, leaving the lives of those from the cobbles and the Dales at risk.
New characters recently confirmed as being amongst the residents of Weatherfield and Emmerdale caught up in the drama are Corrie’s Kit Green, James Bailey, Asha Alahan, Carla Connor and Shona Platt whilst Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle, Sarah Sugden, Charity Dingle, Jacob Gallagher, Robert Sugden and Joe Tate are added to the previously announced David Platt, Tracy Barlow, Liam Cavanagh, Aaron Dingle and Lisa Swain.

But a full Corriedale cast list has revealed the rest of the names set to feature, including Sydney as Betsy. She was also seen at the premiere of Corriedale at The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, the UK City of Culture 2025, on Tuesday (December 16), alongside her on-screen family, Vicky Myers (Lisa), Alison King (Carla Connor) and Amy Cudden (Becky Swain).
Sharing pictures of herself, Vicky and Alison and Instagram as they hit the red carpet together, Sydney said on Instagram: “Corriedale Premier and my two tv mamas! minus our beautiful Amy.” Corrie pal Sally Carman-Duttine (Abi Webster) was quick to respond, commenting: “Gorgeous!” before fans rushed to respond.

It comes as Corrie fans have been left fearful about Betsy and Lisa’s involvement in the upcoming episode, with them confirmed in the cast list but yet to feature in any of the trailers released so far.
