Coronation Street may not be on tonight (Sunday, May 17), but there is plenty to come in the long-running show next week, with spoilers already revealing what’s ahead.

After the last episode aired on Friday (May 15), fans will be able to tune into the next instalment of Weatherfield action on Monday (May 18), either from 7am on ITVX and YouTube or when it airs at 8.30pm on ITV.

Meanwhile, back at home, George Shuttleworth tidies up, but as he does, he accidentally knocks over Summer’s bag and is horrified to see a page from her journal that describes putting a gun to Theo’s head. As George and Christina Boyd read through her journal, they’re startled by Summer’s sudden return.

The investigation continues elsewhere, as Kit looks through his colleague, DS Lisa Connor-Swain’s, wedding photos and spots a crucial detail that could implicate Summer. It’s not long until Lisa takes Summer in for questioning after Kit’s revelation.

Meanwhile, on the street, Todd defends Summer to Lisa. As George later quizzes Summer about Theo’s death, a flashback reveals what he saw on the night. How will Summer react?

Later, Summer furiously confronts George over his accusations, suggesting that he was the one responsible for Theo’s murder. Then, when Summer finds Asha Alahan and Nina Lucas gossiping about her, Gary Windass steps in and takes her to the yard for a brew. But when Christina is caught in a lie to the police, she panics and advises George to tell Lisa what he saw.

George later confides in Christina that he’s told the police about Summer’s lies. When Christina remarks that it’ll only be a matter of time before they come after her, a panicky Summer, who has overheard, slips out of the door.

When Todd bumps into Summer carrying a hold-all, Summer explains that she’s worried the police are going to arrest her for Theo’s murder, so she’s spoken to her university in the States and is flying out this afternoon. However, as she plans her getaway, Summer recalls a witness who could corroborate her alibi. Will they be able to prove her innocence, or has she reached the US?

Elsewhere, Daniel Osbourne confides in Jodie Ramsey that he doesn’t feel ready to face the world just yet. Jodie tells him that she ran into Cassie Plummer and makes out that his son, Bertie, is really missing him and he needs to pull himself together. With Jodie’s words ringing in his ear, Daniel calls to collect Bertie from No.1 only to discover he’s having the time of his life. Daniel returns home and rounds on Jodie for lying to him. When Jodie explains that she did it for his own good and soften?

Well, it doesn’t look like things are looking up for Daniel, as Nina soon shows him and Jodie some vile online posts, suggesting Daniel knew about Megan grooming Will and that he was once guilty of grooming Summer. Who is behind the abuse? Daniel confides in Jodie that Truthteller, his internet troll, is clearly someone who knows him well. Spotting David Platt by the bar, Jodie suggests it could be him. Could Jodie be right, or is she up to her old games?

Meanwhile, when Jodie announces that it’s her birthday, Daniel’s surprised and offers to treat her to lunch. As Nick Tilsley presents Jodie with a birthday cake, everyone sings, but the moment is ruined when Shona Platt arrives and reveals that Jodie’s birthday isn’t until December. How will Daniel respond?

Also on the cobbles, Maggie Driscoll finds herself caught up in more lies, but when her son, Ben, arrives home to find Eva Price comforting his sobbing mother. Can he accept her plea to go easy on Maggie?

As the week continues, Ben takes a call from the police to say Megan Walsh, Will’s groomer, has been released on bail. When Maggie appears for their family lunch, revealing Ollie invited her, Ben is unimpressed. It’s then over lunch that Ben breaks the news to Will that Megan’s out on bail. Maggie’s horrified and assures Will that she’ll protect him, but Ben loses his temper and drops the bombshell on Ollie and Will.

Following the news, Will admits to Tim Metcalfe, who has shared his own experiences of being unknowingly groomed, that he can’t relax knowing that Megan has been released. Meanwhile, Ben tries to book a family holiday, but their plans are interrupted when Susie’s fierce family loyalty causes more drama for the Driscolls.

Later, Ben receives a call that Will failed to turn up for his PE exam. Finding Will in the precinct, Bethany Platt draws on her own experience of being groomed to try to offer support. However, when she touches his hand, a volatile Will erupts, accusing her of touching him up.
