Mia Calabrese shared what was “underplayed” at the Summer House reunion, and she recalled her texts to Amanda Batula after filming. The star also revealed her reunion “intention.”
Though Mia supported Amanda throughout the season, Amanda shocked the cast in March when she released a statement confirming her romance with West Wilson, the ex of Amanda and Mia’s best friend, Ciara Miller. Nearly a month later, the cast met up again to film their reunion.
On Gabbing with Gib, Mia addressed the claim that her own friendship with Amanda was underplayed at the reunion.
“Well, it was appropriate that it was underplayed because Ciara was friends with her for so long. And I wasn’t looking for that to be talked about at the reunion,” she said. “I didn’t need that kind of acknowledgment at all. It wasn’t about me. It was really about her relationship with Ciara.”
“Did it hurt me? Of course. I texted Amanda after filming so many times to say, ‘Hey, let’s get together. Let’s have cosmos. Let’s hang out. I want to check on you,’” Mia added. “And she just wouldn’t respond. I’m like, ‘This is so weird. All summer I was there for you and showing up for you, and you just didn’t take the time to even write me back.’”
According to Mia, Amanda’s “first response” after the summer was her apology for the “betrayal.”
“And it was just very weird to scroll up and see all of my blue text messages with her,” she said. “And then it was just like, ‘Okay, by the way, I’m so sorry about all of them.’”
At one point, Mia recalled her mindset going into the reunion.
“Look, we knew what happened. The statement came out, I think, in March. We filmed the reunion three or four weeks later. I had time to think about this,” she said. “I can’t say the same for some of the other people on the stage. I felt like I was prepared for this. I had questions that I needed answers to, and I needed some clarity and color on the situation. That was my intention going in there. I really felt like I was asking for myself, but I was also asking for my best friend.”
“I didn’t know how Ciara was going to show up that day, and she showed up,” Mia continued. “Ciara was heartbroken, and it’s not just the West part of it all. It’s really her friendship with Amanda that broke her. So I knew I needed to be prepared because I didn’t know what state she was going to show up in.”
