Implicated for murder with an incriminating journal and caught about to go on the run from Coronation Street. The forecast for  Summer (Harriet Bibby) is not looking too brightâŠ
All of the suspects in the line up for the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) he subjected partner Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) to behind closed doors for the best part of a year.
Summer Spellman is no exception, but sheâs got another significant axe to grind against the bully â Theo left her adoptive dad Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) to perish in the Corriedale crash.
So determined was Summer to get justice, she was even willing to hand over Billyâs significant life insurance payout to the conniving  Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) just to provoke the monster into a confession.
Sadly, that plan went pear-shaped. All it ultimately achieved was causing Theo to confront Summer and taunt her with how a frightened, gravely injured Billy prayed to God for life with his dying breath.

If hatred itself isnât Summerâs primary motivation, then it could be self-defence. On the night of Theoâs murder, she was searching the flat when Theo came out of the darkness and advanced on her menacingly.
Cut to Theo dead on the Cobbles⊠which means Summer was the last person to see him before he was killed.
This already makes Summer look pretty guilty. So when she tells Todd that sheâs been offered a placement studying at a university in America, what would usually seem like good news looks an awful lot like running from the law.

While DS Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) seems focused on Gary Windass (Mikey North) as his prime suspect, upcoming scenes of Coronation Street will see the spotlight of suspicion fall squarely on Summer thanks to a literal smoking gun.
When Kit reassures Todd theyâre closing in on Theoâs killer, his words make Summer shift uncomfortably.
Meanwhile, George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) is doing some tidying up when he accidentally knocks over Summerâs bag and is horrified to see a page from her journal that describes putting a gun to Theoâs head.
As George and and Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) read through the passage after hate-filled passage about Theo, theyâre startled by Summerâs sudden return. Busted!

âI think sheâs definitely panicked, I mean everyone who was linked to Theo in any way isnât thinking rationally at all right now,â said Summer star Harriet Bibby. âI think everyone is just trying to keep their head above water, stay out of suspicions way.
âThen with the discovery of this private journal that Summer scribbles her thoughts into, I think she is panicked because she knows that it looks really bad.
âWhether sheâs guilty or innocent, this journal is not a good thing for anybody else to see, because it does implicate her. So I think that she is scrambling and clutching at straws of how to get around this, to get around the fact that they found this journal containing her darkest thoughts.â
And Just when you thought Summerâs problems couldnât get any worse , Kit is looking through Lisa Swainâs (Vicky Myers) wedding photos when suddenly he spots a crucial detail that could implicate Summer in Theoâs murder.
So crucial in fact, that it results in Lisa taking Summer in for questioning after Kitâs revelation.
âI think sheâs panicking, there has never been a situation like this that Summer has even been close to,â continued Harriet. âSheâs also thinking about Billy, what would he think of me now, thatâs in the back of her head, and that makes her panics even more.

âWhether youâre innocent or guilty, sitting in a police station being questioned over someoneâs murder is horrific. So sheâs just in panic mode and she knows that there are these things stacking up against her, it doesnât look good and itâs how she can get around these pieces of what look like evidence against her.â
On the Street, Todd defends Summer to Lisa.
Later, George later quizzes Summer about Theoâs death and a flashback reveals what he saw on the night.
How will Summer react? And could she really be Theoâs murderer?
Discussing the possibility, Harriet said: âI think thereâs a scenario where she might have felt like it was either her that was going to be hurt, or maybe even killed, or it was him.
âI think when people are pushed to that point, itâs interesting to see what they will do to survive. Itâs no secret that Theo was very threatening, he even said that he was going to bury Summer if she got in his way, so there could have been a moment where she felt like it was either her or him.â
