Coronation Street star Tina O’Brien called out a paparazzi photographer, with the incident being uploaded to her Instagram Stories. In the video, the actor stated that she didn’t “ask” to be photographed.
In the clip, the photographer begins by asking O’Brien if she was “alright”, with the Sarah Platt actor replying: “Yes, fine”. In response, the photographer says: “Can I ask why you were giving me the wanker sign in public?”
“Because I don’t particularly like being filmed or photographed, do you?” responded O’Brien, with the paparazzi photographer replying: “Yeah but I’m not on TV. I’m not in Coronation Street.”
O’Brien, who debuted on the ITV soap in 1999, then said: “Did I ask for it? Did I ask for you to take pictures?”, with the photographer answering: “You chose to go on Coronation Street so it’s your own fault.”
After the actor repeatedly asked if she had ‘chosen’ this situation, the photographer said that being snapped by paparazzi was “part and parcel of being a celebrity”, before telling her to “go and work in Tesco” if she didn’t “like it”.
Elsewhere, on the soap itself O’Brien’s Sarah will soon be in a spot of bother as she is arrested for her part in Theo Silverton’s murder. Though she doesn’t initially implicate Gary Windass, she could be left with little choice but to confess everything as a life sentence looms.
“Sarah is terrified when the police arrive and arrest her in front of all the Platts,” explains our Corrie insider. “Part of her has been waiting for this moment because she never quite believed she could get away with murder.”
“But even so, in the moment that she’s arrested and taken in for questioning, she’s filled with terror,” they added, while also noting that Maria Connor finds herself in a difficult situation as her alibi for Gary could be easily disproven.
“She isn’t willing to do time for providing a false alibi and leave their kids without both parents,” says our source. “In fact, she’s ready to throw Gary under a bus right now to give herself the best chance of escaping charges.”
