The 37-year-old announced her pregnancy last September, describing it as a “miracle” after struggling to conceive with husband Andy Parsons. On Sunday evening, she revealed that the couple have welcomed a baby daughter named Thea Joy, telling fans simply: “Our family is complete.”

Rebecca accompanied the announcement with a tender first photo of Thea sleeping peacefully in her hospital cot, as the family formed heart shapes with their hands around their newborn.

An Outpouring of Love

Friends, fans and fellow athletes quickly flooded the comments with messages of support. Olympian Greg Rutherford wrote: “Massive congratulations,” while Kelsey Parker added: “So special — congratulations.”

Fans echoed the sentiment, calling Thea “beautiful,” praising her name, and sharing messages of love and relief after Rebecca’s long and painful journey.

Rebecca is already mum to son Albie, two, with Andy, and daughter Summer, eight, from her previous marriage to Harry Needs.

A Journey Marked by Loss

Last year, Rebecca spoke candidly about the emotional toll of her miscarriages, admitting she had struggled deeply with her relationship with her own body.

Her first miscarriage occurred in 2022 at 12 weeks, when she was diagnosed with a molar pregnancy — a rare condition in which abnormal cells grow in the womb instead of a healthy foetus — requiring emergency surgery.

The following year, heartbreak struck again. At her 20-week scan, Rebecca learned she had suffered a second miscarriage and was forced to give birth to a baby girl the couple named Harper.

She later admitted she found it devastating to look at herself afterwards, as her body still appeared pregnant.

‘I Hated My Body’

Speaking bravely on This Morning, Rebecca shared her raw emotions with viewers.

“I was angry at my body,” she said. “My body let me down. It didn’t tell me anything was wrong.”

She explained how difficult it was to return home after losing Harper, still looking 20 weeks pregnant.

“That is incredibly hard to deal with. You give birth, the baby isn’t alive, and then you go home and still look pregnant.
I hated my body. I fell out of love with it — even though it gave me two healthy children and four Olympic gold medals.”

She added that enduring a second loss made the experience even harder.

A Father’s Perspective

Andy also spoke openly about the experience, explaining that his focus immediately became supporting Rebecca — even while struggling himself.

“All the energy and thoughts are with Becky. It’s her body, her trauma,” he said.

He revealed that both turned to the baby-loss charity Petals for counselling, which helped them process their grief together.

“There isn’t enough support for men in this situation,” Andy added. “They’ve lost a child too.”

‘Our Family Is Complete’

Now, with the arrival of baby Thea Joy, Rebecca’s story has taken a hopeful new turn — one marked by resilience, honesty and healing.

For many who followed her journey, this moment represents more than a birth — it is a powerful reminder that joy can still arrive after unimaginable loss.
